On 13 June 2024, SNRIU Chairman held a meeting with employees of the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate at South Ukrainian NPP and Nuclear Safety Inspectorate at Zaporizhzhya NPP (due to the occupation of Enerhodar and ZNPP by russian invaders, the Inspectorate temporarily operates in South Ukrainian NPP). The participants of the meeting discussed the results of the plant-wide emergency drill held on 12-13 June 2024 under the scenario of a CONDITIONAL emergency at the South Ukrainian NPP, in which SNRIU experts participated.

The head of SNRIU also took part in a meeting with the staff of the South Ukrainian NPP at the invitation of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of JSC Petro Kotin. During the meeting, Oleh Korikov informed about the work of the Ukrainian delegation at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting held on 3-7 June 2024 in Vienna (Republic of Austria) and the results of meetings with the Agency's management.

Oleh Korikov also reported on the regulatory activities of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine in terms of the implementation of the updated General Safety Regulations for Nuclear Power Plants.

“The updated General Safety Regulations for Nuclear Power Plants take into account the experience of their application for more than 16 years, as well as modern Ukrainian and international requirements, the best European practices in regulating nuclear and radiation safety of NPPs. The main changes were made to the sections establishing safety criteria, requirements for ensuring the implementation of the defense-in-depth strategy, safety analysis, design and operation of NPPs”, SNRIU Chairman noted.
