On May 17, 2022, an online high-level meeting was held with the participation of the SNRIU, the European Commission and representatives of European Union member states operating nuclear power plants with WWER reactors.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian side presented its unique experience in the implementation and operation of nuclear fuel produced by Westinghouse, which replaced the Russian fuel TVEL and which is now successfully operated by NNEGC Energoatom on WWER-1000 reactors.

In addition, European colleagues were offered state expertise and support in licensing, implementation and operation of alternative nuclear fuel at nuclear power plants with WWER reactors.

It will be recalled that the SNRIU is currently conducting a state examination of nuclear and radiation safety "Conceptual technical solution for the implementation of WWER-440 TVS manufactured by Westinghouse at Units ,1, 2 of Rivne NPP."
