The first batch of assistance provided to Ukraine through the IAEA Response and Assistance Network (RANET) from the US Government was received on May 16, 2022.
Portable spectrometers for operational determination of the type and radionuclide composition of ionizing radiation for nuclear safety, restoration of regulatory control and preparedness for emergencies, response to hostilities, obtained for territorial bodies - Inspectorates for Nuclear and Radiation Safety and the State Scientific and Technical Center and radiation safety.
The RANET network was established by the IAEA as an operational tool to support the practical implementation of the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiation Emergency. RANET is an integrated system of coordination of international assistance, which provides the organization of operational assistance for consultations (response experts) and training, provision of necessary equipment and materials, departure of qualified personnel to the scene, etc.
The SNRIU, in cooperation with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, is consulting on possible mechanisms and procedures for obtaining additional assistance under this tool.
Currently, proposals for assistance to Ukraine have been received from Australia, the United States, Romania, Hungary, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Israel.
