On May 20, 2022, during a online meeting with the Christopher HANSON - Chairman of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, they discussed the issue of refusing to use Russian fuel at VVER-440 units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, regulating nuclear and radiation safety in hostilities.

The future directions of cooperation were outlined, in particular, the support of the Ukrainian regulator in further study of the experience of licensing advanced nuclear technologies implemented in the projects of AP1000 and SMRs units. In addition, technical assistance is planned to strengthen the capacity of the SNRIU Information and Crisis Center and put into operation the State Register of individual doses of personnel and the population - modern computer equipment and software which was submitted to the IAEA under RANET.

In modern conditions, these projects are extremely important for Ukraine and are associated with possible risks of unjustified re-exposure of the population.
