On May 19, 2022, the Acting Chairman of the SNRIU Oleh KORIKOV met with the Vice President of Holtec International Riaz AWAN at the SNRIU.

Oleh KORIKOV congratulated Holtec International on the resumption of the Kyiv office and thanked for many years of fruitful cooperation and support, which is important for Ukraine in these difficult times.

Holtec International (USA) is a leading supplier of spent nuclear fuel storage and management technologies in Ukraine. Holtec technologies have been implemented in the new Dry-type Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility of Chornobyl NPP (ISF-2), which began operations in 2021. Holtec's largest project in Ukraine is the construction of a Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility for domestic NPPs with VVER reactors, the commissioning of which is currently being successfully completed in the Exclusion Zone.

It was noted that both sides are interested in continuing cooperation with the aim of further development of the nuclear energy sector in Ukraine, introduction of new technologies, solving the challenges facing Ukraine through full-scale military action by the Russian Federation.

Oleh KORIKOV also informed Mr. AWAN about the extremely negative consequences of the Russian Federation's military actions for nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear facilities and other facilities of nuclear energy use in Ukraine, in particular, in the exclusion zone, Chornobyl and Zaporizhzhia NPPs.
