As of 9 March 2022, the situation at the nuclear subcritical installation “Neutron Source Based on a Subcritical Assembly Driven by a Linear Electron Accelerator” (NSI “Neutron Source”) remains unchanged:
- the nuclear installation has been transferred into a deep subcritical state (“long-term shutdown” mode);
- the radiation background (ambient equivalent gamma and neutron dose rate at the workplaces of personnel and at the site territory) has not changed and is within acceptable limits;
- personnel carry out walkdowns of buildings and equipment and develop measures to eliminate the bombing consequences.
It is to be recalled that on 6 March 2022, the research nuclear installation “Neutron Source”, located on the site of the National Research Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology”, was under fire. A number of damage to equipment and buildings was detected in the result of bombing of the nuclear installation.
