All Chornobyl NPP facilities located in the Exclusion Zone are still under the military control of the aggressor country. Already two weeks the Chornobyl NPP personnel has been courageously and heroically performing their functions without rotation to ensure the safe operation of the facilities.
Regulatory control over the state of nuclear and radiation safety at the Chornobyl NPP site and in the Exclusion Zone is currently impossible to exercise.
Operation of the Automated Radiation Monitoring System of the Exclusion Zone has not been restored until now.
Stationary and cellular telephone connection with the Chornobyl NPP personnel currently working at the NPP site, has not been restored.
According to the information received from the Chornobyl NPP personnel through available communication channels, safety parameters of the Chornobyl NPP facilities are within the standard limits so far.
Railway and motor traffic with the Chornobyl NPP have not been restored.
Routine activities, maintenance and repair of systems and equipment of the Chornobyl NPP facilities, which must be performed by the day-time personnel, are not be performed since 24 February 2022 due to the occupation. In addition, the activities to be performed with the involvement of contracting organizations are not carried out.
We remind you, that this situation has already led to impossibility to restore the operation of individual neutron flux sensors, gamma radiation dose rate and radiation contamination sensors, what can lead to failure of other systems and components important to safety in future. The inoperability of the equipment complicates exercising full control over the criticality and over a number of radiation parameters in one of the Shelter premises
Available information on safety parameters indicates a trend of steady deterioration of a number of indicators. The occupier continues to grossly violate the radiation safety and strict access control requirements at the enterprise and in the Exclusion Zone, which leads to deterioration of the radiation situation at the enterprise and in the Exclusion Zone, and contributes to the spread of radioactive contamination outside the Exclusion Zone. Russia neglects these requirements not only in relation to its military personnel, but also in relation to its own journalists. In particular, the day before, a video appeared on the Internet featuring a propaganda media journalist moving around the Chornobyl NPP territory without any means of individual dosimetric control.
On 9 March 2022, at 11:22, the blackout of the 750 kV high-voltage line Kyivska-UA occurred. As a result, all facilities of the Chornobyl NPP are de-energized. The on-site emergency diesel generators have been actuated to power systems important to safety. In the conditions of no-failure operation, available DG fuel will be sufficient for 48 hours. The blackout of the State Specialized Enterprise “Chornobyl NPP” makes it impossible to control the nuclear and radiation safety parameters at the facilities of the enterprise. According to NEC “Ukrenergo”, combat operations in the region make it impossible to perform repair activities to restore power supply.
