Within the framework of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and members of the Ukrainian delegation met with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, the press centre of the Ministry of Energy informs.
Rafael Grossi informed about the results of his last visit to the Zaporizhzhia NPP occupied by russians and the measures that IAEA representatives take to monitor the state of nuclear safety and security at the plant. The IAEA head paid special attention to the experts' comments on the possible return to operation of ZNPP or its individual power units.
Rafael Grossi also noted that IAEA representatives who are on a mission at the plant do not always have the opportunity to inspect all ZNPP facilities, and the agency insists on expanding such access. Separately, concern was emphasized about the continuation of hostilities near the plant.
German Galushchenko thanked the IAEA for involving key documents in the discussion and the efforts that the agency's experts and Rafael Grossi personally make to comply with nuclear safety and security at the site. At the same time, he stressed that the situation at the occupied plant is deteriorating daily, and this indicates the need for the speedy withdrawal of russian troops and rosatom personnel from its territory to return ZNPP under the full control of Ukraine.
The Minister stressed that ensuring nuclear safety and security is one of the key provisions of President Zelensky's Formula of Peace.
