We continue to update on the current situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP site, which was seized by the military forces of the Russian Federation on 4 March 2022 after heavy fighting and artillery shelling.
Currently, ZNPP operational personnel monitor the state of the power units and ensure their operation, the shifts rotation is ensured.
2 power units ZNPP is in operation, other one in outage and the cooldown operations are underway.
According to the Zaporizhzhya NPP management, the personnel perform walkdowns of the industrial site and facilities to identify dangerous items and damage to NPP structures, systems and components. More details on the results of the walkdowns will be reported after their completion.
No changes in the radiation situation in the Zaporizhzhya region have been registered, the gamma radiation background is within standard limits. The NPP automated radiation monitoring system and the automated radiation situation monitoring system in the control and the observation areas function in a regular mode.
At 13:30, the heating and hot water supply to Enerhodar was resumed. Relevant piping was damaged as a result of an attack by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhya NPP on 4 March 2022.
At the same time, the presence of armed enemy troops on the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP and in Enerhodar negatively affects the possibility of inter-shift rest of the plant personnel and significantly increases the probability of errors during operation, which can lead to severe radiation consequences.
