Training ConvEx-3-2021 was conducted by the Incident and Emergency Center of the International Atomic Energy Agency with the participation of 76 IAEA member countries, 12 international organizations, 92 other organizations and 111 laboratories.

During the training, according to the conditional scenario on Barack NPP, United Arab Emirates, real-time exercises for 36 hours through a special USIE system were practiced, including requests for assistance under the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or radiation emergency, and response procedures at the international and national levels.

Such trainings are held every 3-5 years to test existing emergency response mechanisms at the national and international levels, to improve them, and to test the operational communication mechanisms between the IAEA Incident and Emergency Center and the national competent authorities of IAEA member countries.

During ConvEx-3, each country tested its ability to assess and forecast developments, engage in international assistance, and engage with the public and the media.

Simulation of interaction on social networks Twitter and Facebook during an emergency, quick response to public concerns and instructions to citizens on the action plan, took place in a new tool for simulating communications - the IAEA system "Social Media Simulator". The system has proven to be an effective and efficient communication tool.

As a result of the training, the IAEA will prepare a report from member states and international organizations, which will identify aspects for further improving the preparedness response to nuclear and radiation emergencies at the national and international levels.
