On May 4, 2022, Acting Chairman of the SNRIU Oleh KORIKOV headed the delegation of Ukraine for participation in the Fourth Extraordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.

The fourth extraordinary meeting will last until May 6, 2022 at the IAEA headquarters (Vienna).

The main purpose of the meeting is to consider and agree on proposals to improve the procedures for organizing and holding the Seventh Review Meeting of the Parties to the Joint Convention, in order to improve the process of submitting and reviewing National Reports, forming relevant groups of countries, appointing officials information on the implementation by the contracting parties of national programs on spent fuel and radwaste management, etc.

The Ukrainian delegation also met with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, Head of the IAEA Department for Nuclear Non-Proliferation Guarantees Haroldo Barroso Junior, Coordinator of Ukraine's Technical Cooperation with the IAEA Katherine Deufrains, US Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna - Ambassador Laura Holgate.
