On 3 January 2025, Head of SNRIU - Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine Oleh Korikov paid a working visit to the South Ukrainian NPP and held a meeting with the employees of the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate at the plant and IAEA experts who are at the plant as part of the Agency's permanent monitoring mission.
During the meeting, he stressed the importance of recording all criminal actions of the russian military, which create new risks and threats to nuclear and radiation safety by launching missile strikes and unmanned aerial vehicle attacks on energy infrastructure facilities and often laying the route of munitions in close proximity to nuclear facilities and in the observation zone around the nuclear power plant.

Thanks to your work, the entire civilised world has constant professional information on threats to nuclear and radiation safety arising from the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by russia and criminal attacks on energy infrastructure facilities critical for safe operation of nuclear power plants”, SNRIU Chairman noted and assured of the readiness of the national NRS regulator to provide comprehensive assistance to the IAEA experts to perform their functions and tasks.
Oleh Korikov drew attention of the state inspectors to the importance of ensuring proper state supervision over nuclear and radiation safety at the industrial site of the South Ukrainian NPP.
