On February 18, the SNRIU Board approved the Report on the activities of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine for 2020 and priority areas of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine for 2021.

The online meeting was attended by representatives of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, ministries and departments, public councils, public associations, trade unions, mass media, and industry experts.

Opening the meeting, the Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine - Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine Hryhorii Plachkov said: “Despite the fact that 2020 was a year of challenges and the need for rapid adaptation to reality of restrictive measures to prevent the spread of acute respiratory disease Сovid-19, the use of new mechanisms tools of communication and interaction has allowed to ensure the appropriate level of nuclear and radiation safety in the country and to have some achievements. We all switched to an online communication format and it happened on an international scale. Did this affect the state regulation? Partly, but according to the results of the year we have success."

He also thanked the entire staff of the SNRIU, the staff of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS), members of the Board and the Public Council of the SNRIU for their work.

Information on the regulation of the safety of nuclear installations was provided by Borys Stoliarchuk, the Director of the Department for Nuclear Safety - Deputy Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine.

The current state of safety regulation of the Shelter transformation into an environmentally safe system, decommissioning of units № 1, 2, 3 of the Chernobyl NPP, radwaste management, use and production of IRS, processing and extraction of uranium ores and reporting information on the activities of seven Nuclear and Radiation Safety Inspectorates, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Inspectorate in the Exclusion Zone and the SSTC NRS were represented by the Deputy Head of the SNRIU - Deputy Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine Ruslana Tripailo.

The participants of the meeting received comprehensive answers to their questions from the leadership of the SNRIU.
