On 15.01.2015 at 22:03, a transformer of transmission lines was short-circuited at the site of the South-Ukrainian NPP. This led to the ignition of transformer oil. On 15.01.2015 at 23:42, the fire was extinguished.

Electric protections, locking and automatics operated in accordance with the project algorithm. Personnel’s actions to eliminate the accident were correct. In order to investigate the malfunction of electric equipment a commission was created.

Mentioned equipment is not related to the “nuclear part” of NPP. Radiation at the site of the South-Ukrainian NPP and neighboring area remains unchanged at the value of 11.4 mR/h, which is usual background radiation level for the NPP area.

Physical protection system operates in normal mode.
