The kick-off meeting of the Ukraine and Norway regulatory body experts took place in Kyiv on the 27th - 28th of January 2015. The meeting was organized by NRPA, SNRIU and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS).

During the bilateral meeting cooperation projects were discussed:

regulatory requirements for the safety of radioactive waste,

radiation protection in medicine,

monitoring of uranium objects.

A new project on comprehensive review of the SNRIU regulatory framework «Threat Assessment» was officially launched. The Contract for the Project was signed by NRPA and SSTC NRC. Participants discussed the schedule of project implementation. It was highlighted that the Threat Assessment report will provide a good basis and background for future long term cooperation, and could help to develop a Strategic Action Plan for Norway - Ukraine regulatory cooperation for the next at least 5 years.

The action plan for all projects (coordination meetings, seminars and workshops, technical visits) was approved.

All participants emphasized the progress in cooperation, reached understanding on goals and next steps of joint projects during next three months and hope for success in the future cooperation.
