On the 11th of April, 2015 at 14.37 the generator of the South-Ukrainian NPP unit No.3 was switched off. The reason was the defects of generator.

According to the project algorithm, the unit was automatically unloaded to the capacity of 10%, and the unit capacity at 15:02 11.04.2015 was Npower=300MW, Nelectr=0MW.

On 12 April 2015, after the research, the damage of exciter No. 2 of the turbine generator was defined (NPP electrical equipments, which do not relate to SUNPP-3 nuclear safety issues).

SNRIU’s on-site Inspection provides the continuous control on the NPP personal concerning nuclear and radiation safety issues.

By preliminary estimate the event was rated as the event without safety significance – “below Scale/Level 0” according to INES scale.

Radiation at the site of the South-Ukrainian NPP and neighboring area remains unchanged at the value of 11,6 mR/h, which is usual background radiation level for the NPP area.
